02. Mackinaw Bridge – Mackinaw City, Michigan
With some rural rope walkways and rotting bridges in comparison, the Mackinac Bridge probably doesn’t seem as scary as other bridges. You might be surprised when you walk across the bridge’s 5 miles (8 km) on a windy day and see just how high you really are. It crosses the Straits of Mackinac, connecting Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas, making it the longest suspension bridge in the world. At worst, it could move 35 feet, as all suspension bridges do with the wind.
